Key takeaways
- Shopify is a Gulf-wide platform, not a Saudi one: 36% of its store ads run in the UAE, 28% in Saudi Arabia and 27% in Kuwait, against Salla, which runs 90% of its ads in Saudi Arabia.
- 15,532 ads from 1,959 advertiser pages: one store runs many ads. The proof of a good agency is not the number of ads but the ads that lasted: only <1% of Shopify ads reach 30 days.
- Gulf Shopify store pages carry a Meta pixel on 92% of them, a TikTok pixel on 53% and Snapchat on 49%: ask the agency for a store with its pixels installed before you ask for a campaign.
- The Gulf Shopify ad: a "Shop now" button on 59%, video in 55%, a discount in 33%, and cash on delivery in only 9%.
Shopify's place in Gulf ads
In the study window, 15,532 Arabic ads led to Shopify stores, from 1,959 advertiser pages, close to Salla (13,340 ads from 1,966 pages). The difference is the map: Salla runs 90% of its ads in Saudi Arabia, while Shopify's ads spread across the UAE (36%), Saudi Arabia (28%), Kuwait (27%), Qatar (18%), Oman (9%) and Bahrain (9%). An ad can run in several countries.
That defines what you need from an agency: if you sell in Saudi Arabia alone, the first question is why Shopify rather than Salla or Zid, and an honest agency answers it plainly (the comparison is in Shopify stores in the Gulf). If you sell in several Gulf countries, Shopify is a common choice, and the agency you pick must know payment and shipping in each country, not just one.
What do Gulf Shopify stores sell? Perfumes (11%), skincare (10%), health (8%), fashion (7%) and food (6%). And how do they advertise? "Shop now" on 59% of ads and "Order now" on 28%, video in 55%, a discount in 33%, free delivery in 15%, instalments in 4%, and cash on delivery in only 9%. The median advertised price is SAR 199.
What the agency should show you
- Real stores with ads running for 30 days or more. Any agency can run dozens of ads for a few days; few have ads that survive for weeks because the client sees results. Among Gulf Shopify ads only <1% reached 30 days, so if an agency shows you three stores with such ads, that is real proof. Why age is the measure: Ad running time.
- Stores with their pixels installed. A Gulf Shopify store usually carries a Meta pixel (92% of pages) and often TikTok (53%), Snapchat (49%) and Google Ads (47%). An agency handing you a store without a Meta pixel hands you a store that cannot advertise. The standard path in Shopify: the Facebook & Instagram sales channel (the Meta app) connects the pixel and dataset, or "Customer events" for a custom pixel, and TikTok and Snapchat each have an app. Details in Salla, Zid and Shopify pixels.
- Landing pages that sell. The price in the country's currency, shipping and its time, the payment method (card, Tabby or Tamara, cash on delivery if offered), the return policy, and fast loading on mobile.
- Ads in the market's style. Vertical video, a button that fits the product, a clear offer. Three ads for real clients are enough to judge.
How to verify it yourself in GccFY
- The Domains screen filtered to Shopify. Ask the agency for its clients' store domains and look them up here. For each domain you see its total ads, what runs now, its ads in each of the six countries, the captured landing pages, and a pixel filter. A store that does not appear has not advertised in Arabic in the Gulf in the period we cover.
- The Advertisers screen. Type the client's page name (the box searches page names), filter the platform to Shopify and pick the country. You see the page's active and stopped ads with the days each one ran. Sort the whole country by most ads to see where the client stands among competitors.
- The captured store page. Open any ad of the client: GccFY keeps a snapshot of the store page with the pixels detected on it. Here you check the pixel, the price and the shipping without asking anyone.
- The library with "store type: Shopify" and your country, sorted by longest running: that is the benchmark you compare the agency's work against. How to find the stores is in Find Shopify stores in the Gulf.

If you want to check a store outside GccFY, many Shopify stores expose /products.json and the best-selling order at /collections/all, and the Meta Pixel Helper extension reveals the Meta pixel on any page. All the methods are in Spy on a Shopify store. What nobody sees: a store's sales, orders and conversion rate; an agency showing you "its clients' sales" is showing numbers you cannot verify, so read the signals instead: how long the ads run, how many countries, and new ads.
Questions to ask before signing
| Question | Why |
|---|---|
| Who owns the store, the ad account, the pixel and the dataset? | All must be in your name; the agency is a partner that gets added and removed. |
| Which clients sell in my country specifically? | Payment and shipping differ between Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait; experience in one country does not transfer automatically. |
| Is the store delivered with the Meta, TikTok and Snapchat pixels installed and tested? | A full test purchase before the first ad saves the first week's budget. |
| What is the payment plan in the store? | In Gulf Shopify ads instalments are in 4% and cash on delivery in 9%; cash on delivery is your decision, not the agency's. |
| How many ads do you test a month, and when is a loser stopped? | A clear stop rule protects your budget. |
| What happens when the contract ends? | Data export, access handover, and no theme or apps that only work through the agency. |
Warning signs
- A portfolio of screenshots with no domains or page names you can open on the Advertisers screen.
- "Our clients' sales figures" with no way to verify them; sales are private, only the ads are public.
- A promise of a guaranteed return from an ad auction.
- A store built on the agency's account or on a theme you do not own.
- "We can see competitors' budgets and targeting": for commercial ads in the Gulf the library shows neither spend nor targeting.
- An ad plan of static images only, in a market where video is 55% of Shopify ads.
Before you decide
Spend half an hour in GccFY before any meeting: filter "Shopify" and your country, sort by longest running, and open five store pages. You will know what a successful Shopify store looks like in your market, at what price it sells, which pixels it carries and which button it advertises with. Then ask every agency to show you its clients by the same measure. If your store is in Kuwait, read Meta ads agencies in Kuwait too, and keep following your competitors weekly after launch.
