Hair care ads in Saudi Arabia: how oils and serums are sold, on which platform, and at what price

A hair product is sold by the result: hair falling in the first second, thick hair weeks later. We read 4,548 recent Arabic ads for shampoo, serum, oils and hair-loss treatment targeting Saudi Arabia, from 777 advertiser pages, between 2026-10-25 and 2026-11-06. Hair is one of the four biggest categories in the Saudi market, yet it is a category where Saudi Arabia does not lead the Gulf: the UAE is ahead by count and Oman by share. Inside Saudi Arabia the category differs from the rest of the Gulf in two ways: Salla stores take the place of WhatsApp, and single-product LightFunnels pages take more than twice their share of Saudi ads overall.

  • Salla in 11% of Saudi hair ads (across the Gulf 3%), and WhatsApp without a store only 12% against 24% in Saudi Arabia overall.
  • Cash on delivery in 24% (twice the Saudi average of 12%), a discount or an offer in 51%, video in 78%.
  • The median advertised price is SAR 119; half of the priced ads sit between SAR 50 and 199: cheaper than the median of Saudi ads (SAR 196).

The Saudi hair market in one picture

Hair care takes 8% of all the Arabic ads that targeted Saudi Arabia (4,548 ads), about level with watches and accessories and behind fashion and electronics. Across the Gulf, Saudi Arabia is not first: 4,982 ads targeted the UAE, 4,548 Saudi Arabia, then Oman (3,440), where hair is the biggest category of all (Oman hair care ads). The whole Gulf category, with the before-and-after video examples, is in Hair care ads.

What sets Saudi Arabia apart inside the category:

  • Salla instead of WhatsApp: across the Gulf, WhatsApp without a store is the first destination of hair ads (13%) and Salla only 3%; in Saudi Arabia, Salla (11%) almost equals WhatsApp (12%). Of the 562 hair ads leading to Salla in the Gulf, 507 are in Saudi Arabia.
  • Single-product pages: LightFunnels in 7% of Saudi hair ads, against 3% of Saudi ads overall: the dropshipping model (one oil or serum, a landing page, cash on delivery) lives here. Read Dropshipping in Saudi Arabia to understand that model.
  • Cash on delivery: 24%, the same as the category's Gulf average (25%) and twice the Saudi average (12%).

How hair products sell in Saudi Arabia: the result, then the offer

78% of hair ads in Saudi Arabia are video, clearly above the Saudi average (62%): hair before and after, oil poured into a palm, a customer speaking in her own dialect. Then the offer:

  • A discount or an offer in 51%: half the ads, usually "oil + shampoo, and the conditioner as a gift" or "two bottles for the price of one".
  • Urgency in 27%, against 15% in Saudi Arabia overall.
  • Cash on delivery in 24% and free delivery in 15%: the customer buys a promise of a result she has not seen, so the fear is removed by paying at the door.
  • A gift in 13%, below the category across the Gulf (17%) but above the Saudi average (8%).

Instalments (4%) are nearly absent: the price does not need them. The text is long, a median of 104 words against 44 in Saudi Arabia overall, because the ad explains the ingredient, the period and the result.

Where the ads lead: WhatsApp, Salla, LightFunnels, Shopify

WhatsApp without a store (12%) and Salla (11%) are close at the top, then LightFunnels (7%), Shopify (5%) and Zid (3%). The picture holds three kinds of competitor: a local Salla store with a full range, a single-product landing page, and a WhatsApp seller answering "will it work for my hair?".

The buttons: "Shop now" on 54%, "Order now" on 16%, "WhatsApp message" on 11% (half the Saudi average of 23%). Note "Learn more" on 11%, three times the Saudi average (4%): the button of someone who wants to explain before selling, most likely the trace of clinics, beauty centres and hair-removal devices among the advertisers.

Prices in riyals, and who advertises

Of 461 Saudi hair ads that stated a price in riyals: the lower quartile up to SAR 50, the median 119, the upper quartile from SAR 199. The category's Gulf median is SAR 99 and the median of Saudi ads overall 196: a hair product is among the cheapest things advertised, bought straight from the ad and bought again every month. At the bottom, shampoo and oil; at the top, treatment sets and styling devices.

4,548 ads from 777 pages: a handful of ads per advertiser on average, a spread-out category. To see who advertises now, open the Advertisers screen in GccFY with "شعر" (hair) and the Saudi filter.

The hair ads that have run for weeks in Saudi Arabia

Sort the library by longest running with the Saudi filter, and note for every ad that lasted: the problem it opens with (loss, dryness, dandruff, grey hair), the period it promises, the offer (a second bottle, the conditioner as a gift), and who speaks in the video. Then open the store page behind the ad: the real price, whether cash on delivery is written, and whether the page is a full store or a single-product page. Try other words in the same sort: "تساقط" (hair loss), "شامبو" (shampoo), "زيت" (oil). How to read running time.

An honest note on the numbers: the "hair" group is built from words in the ad text (hair, shampoo, conditioner, dye, hair loss), so it holds shampoo, dye and hair-loss treatment together, plus hair-removal devices and some clinics. It also overlaps with its neighbours: 19% of its ads also mention skin, and 21% fall in health and supplements (hair vitamins and collagen). Read the numbers as "hair products and what surrounds them", and narrow the search with your own product word.

Practical steps and copy templates for a hair products store

  1. Open the GccFY library with "شعر" (hair) or "تساقط" (hair loss) and the Saudi filter, sorted by longest running, then repeat with the Salla platform filter and then the LightFunnels filter to see both kinds of competitor.
  2. Open the video with the problem, not the product; state a period for the result (weeks, not "instantly"), and do not promise a cure.
  3. Write cash on delivery in the text: a quarter of your competitors do, and the customer is buying a promise.
  4. Price the set (oil + shampoo + conditioner) near the market median and make the third piece the gift.
  5. Plan the seasons: White Friday on 27 November 2026 (start mid-November), Ramadan around 8 February 2027, Eid al-Fitr on 9 or 10 March 2027. The calendar is in Gulf ad seasons, and copy examples for the neighbouring category in Skincare ad examples.
