Key takeaways
- Perfume is the biggest category of advertising Salla stores: 1,882 ads from 216 pages, then abayas (962) and fashion (773).
- In Saudi abayas 60% of the ads lead to a Salla store, in perfume 35%; in hair care and health Salla's share is far lower.
- Three ways in GccFY: the library with the Salla filter and a word, the Domains screen filtered by Salla, and the Advertisers screen filtered by Salla.
- The store you see in the ads today is your real competitor; save it in a collection and come back every week.
How many Salla stores advertise, and in which categories?
Of the study's 12,673 Salla store ads, 91% run in Saudi Arabia. The categories rank as in the chart: perfume first by a clear margin, then abayas, fashion, food and watches. An ad can fall in more than one category (a watch sold with a perfume in a gift set, for example).
The market is spread over many pages: 1,909 advertiser pages, a handful of ads per page on average. No single store owns a category, which is why you need a list, not one name.
Salla stores by category: ads and pages
| Category | Salla store ads | Advertiser pages | Salla's share of the category's ads in Saudi Arabia |
|---|---|---|---|
| Perfumes and incense | 1,882 | 216 | 35% |
| Abayas | 962 | 183 | 60% |
| Fashion and shoes | 773 | 212 | 13% |
| Food, coffee and dates | 735 | 194 | 22% |
| Watches and accessories | 645 | 203 | 14% |
| Electronics | 572 | 143 | 11% |
| Skincare | 538 | 145 | 16% |
| Hair care | 508 | 114 | 9% |
| Home and furniture | 457 | 137 | 12% |
| Health and supplements | 445 | 110 | 9% |
| Kids and toys | 404 | 115 | 13% |
| Makeup | 114 | 45 | 5% |
The last column matters most: in abayas and perfume, your Saudi competitor is usually a Salla store, so a list of Salla stores is close to a list of the market. In hair care, health and makeup most ads lead to other platforms or to WhatsApp without a store, and Salla stores are a small part of the competition. The two biggest categories in detail: Perfume stores in Saudi Arabia and Abaya stores in Saudi Arabia.
Way one: the library with the Salla filter and a word from your niche
- Open the library and pick "store type: Salla" and the country.
- Type an Arabic word from your category the way sellers write it: "عطر" (perfume), "دهن عود" (oud oil), "عباية" (abaya), "تمور" (dates).
- Keep active ads and sort by longest running to see first the stores that have been selling for weeks.
- Each card shows the page name and the store platform: open the store page behind the ad to see its product and price.

This way gives you the stores from the product angle: who advertises oud oil right now. It fits best when you are looking for a specific product.
Way two: the Domains screen filtered by Salla
The Domains screen shows the stores themselves, not the ads: each domain with its total ads, what runs now, its ads in each of the six countries, and the landing pages we captured for it. Filter it by the Salla platform and sort by number of ads, and you get the list of the Salla stores that advertise most.

You can filter the screen by a given pixel too: Salla stores carrying the Snapchat pixel, for example, which most likely advertise on Snapchat. It is the fastest way to see each competitor's size and how it spreads across countries.
Way three: the Advertisers screen filtered by Salla
The Advertisers screen shows the Facebook and Instagram pages that advertise, with their number of ads, what runs now and since when. Filter it by the Salla platform and sort by number of ads.

Note: the search box on this screen searches page names, not ad copy. "عطر" finds pages whose name contains the word for perfume, not everyone who sells perfume. So combine the two: the library to find who advertises the product, the Advertisers screen to find stores with the category in their name.
Build your list of Salla competitors
- Gather twenty stores in your category and country from the three ways.
- For each store note: the hero product, the price on the store page, the offer, the number of active ads, and the countries.
- Save their best ads in a saved collection named after the category, with a short note on each ad.
- Come back to the list every week: a store whose ads rise or that enters a new country is growing.
If you find a store outside GccFY (on Instagram or Google) and want to know its platform, the page source or the Wappalyzer extension is enough. How to read each store once you have found it: Spy on a Salla store. Salla against the other platforms: Salla and Zid store ads.
