Key takeaways
- Offer before product: "offer" (عرض) appears in 27% of Arabic ads, and a percentage off in 14%.
- Half of the ads are shorter than 55 words: the first two lines are the ad, the rest is detail.
- Cash on delivery (11%) and free delivery (6%) answer the buyer's two biggest questions.
- Emojis appear in 75% of ads, but they structure the copy; they do not make the sale.
What Gulf sellers actually write
We searched the copy of the newest 20,000 Arabic ads for recurring phrases. Share of ads using each one:
- Length: a quarter of the ads are under 31 words, half under 55, and the longest quarter exceeds 102 words.
- Emojis: in 75% of ads, usually as bullets between lines.
- Questions: 36% of ads ask a question, most often in the first line.
- Hashtags: in 28% of ads, with no clear role in paid ads.
The structure of an ad that sells
- Line one (the hook): a question about the problem, the offer itself, or a concrete result.
- The benefit: what changes for the buyer, in one or two sentences.
- Proof: reviews, number of customers, or "original, with warranty".
- The offer: price before and after, "2 for 1", or a gift, with the deadline if it is real.
- Call to action and payment: "Order now, delivery in two days, pay on delivery".
The two-line rule: Instagram and Facebook cut the copy after two or three lines. If the reader has not understood the product and the offer before "more", you have lost most of them.
Ten proven opening lines
These patterns recur in ads that have run for weeks. The examples are our own wording; swap in your product:
- The problem question: «تعبتِ من تساقط شعرك بعد كل غسلة؟» ("Tired of hair falling out after every wash?")
- Offer first: «خصم 40% على كل العبايات حتى نهاية الأسبوع.» ("40% off all abayas until the weekend.")
- The result: «مطبخ مرتّب في عشر دقائق، بدون تركيب.» ("A tidy kitchen in ten minutes, no installation.")
- Comparison: «رائحة العود الفاخر بسعر عطر يومي.» ("Luxury oud scent at an everyday price.")
- The occasion: «جهّزي بيتك لرمضان قبل الزحمة.» ("Get your home ready for Ramadan before the rush.")
- Social proof: «أكثر من 3,000 عميلة جرّبته هذا الشهر.» ("3,000+ customers tried it this month.")
- Curiosity: «السر اللي تستخدمه صالونات الرياض للشعر الناعم.» ("The secret Riyadh salons use for smooth hair.")
- The objection: «خايف ما يناسبك المقاس؟ الاستبدال مجاني.» ("Worried about the size? Exchanges are free.")
- Local: «توصيل خلال 24 ساعة داخل جدة.» ("Delivery within 24 hours in Jeddah.")
- The gift: «هدية العيد اللي بتفرّحه، مغلّفة وجاهزة.» ("The Eid gift that will make them smile, wrapped and ready.")
Phrasing the offer and payment
- A clear price: «بـ 149 ريال بدل 249» ("SAR 149 instead of 249") beats «بسعر مميز» ("special price").
- Quantity offers: «قطعتين بـ 199» ("two for SAR 199") raises order value.
- Delivery: time, city and cost, or «توصيل مجاني» ("free delivery") if it is.
- Payment: «الدفع عند الاستلام» ("cash on delivery") or pay-later with Tabby or Tamara removes hesitation.
- Honest urgency: "limited stock" only if it really is; buyers recognise fake urgency.
Modern Standard Arabic or Gulf dialect?
Both work; what matters is fitting the audience and the product:
- Light Gulf dialect («تبين»، «وش رايك»، «لا يفوتك») feels close and warm, and suits fashion, beauty and everyday products.
- Simple Modern Standard Arabic is clearer for technical and health products and works in every Gulf country.
- Mixing is common: a dialect headline, details in MSA.
- English for the product name as buyers search it ("Serum", "Air Fryer"), not for the whole ad.

On-video text and the first three seconds
Video makes up 65% of the newest Arabic ads in our library, and many people watch without sound. So:
- Write the offer on screen in the first two seconds, large and clear.
- Show the product in use from the first shot, not the logo.
- Add captions if the video has speech.
- End with the offer and how to order, in writing.

What to avoid
- Medical promises: "treats" and "cures" are not allowed for supplements and cosmetics, and get ads rejected and stores penalised.
- Fake discounts: a "before" price the product never sold at hurts trust and breaks the rules.
- Copying competitors' copy: take the pattern and the idea, and write in your own voice.
- Emoji and hashtag overload: it makes reading harder and does not increase reach in paid ads.
The best school for ad copy is reading dozens of ads that have run for weeks in your category. In GccFY you can search ad copy for a phrase such as «الدفع عند الاستلام» (cash on delivery) or «توصيل مجاني» (free delivery) and sort the results by running time.
